The first project was "The Native American Distance Education"   :

to identify what was going on in Distance Education in Native America.

The mission of the former project site was:

"Determine options for utilizing Distance Education opportunities for our children."

The objectives of the former project site was to:

  1. Create content for a "Showcase of Native American Distance Education."
  2. Determine the direction the Tribal College's will go to accomplish 21rst Century education.
  3. Document the steps to accomplish the mission.
 

This former information will be rearranged, reposted as needed, and some will be archived.

Also a visual Project Calendar was archived.

The Syllabus Web conducts weekly case studies. This week, a Master's Degree program where students from places as far flung as Bangladesh, Kuwait, and Kuala Lumpur are among those pursuing a Technology in Education master's degree at Lesley College.

The Distance Education Clearinghouse Web site at the University of Wisconsin is a "must see" site for distance educators. It includes distance education headlines, articles, resources, conferences, technologies, funding and legislation information, and much more.

The Distance Education at a Glance... Web site is available to help
instructors through the development and delivery of distance education
courses. It includes a series of guides that can be printed and used for
non-profit educational purposes.

What distance learners need to know.....including - Principles of Good Practice for Electronically Offered Academic Degree and Certificate Programs, what the accreditation bodies use to accredit distance education programs.

This was to update a 1995 document called "Developing the Navajo Nation - Information Infrastructure" by Jake Jacobson & Judith Skinner of JPL - Advanced Communications Laboratory. A current 1997 Assessment is added to speed the implementation of DOI's "Access Native America."
